Exposed Aggregate Concrete
Washed stone surface with natural colour variation, strong traction and a finish that hides everyday wear.
Exposed aggregate is one of the most popular driveway finishes in the GTA. Washing the surface paste away reveals the stone in the mix, giving a textured, natural-looking surface.
It hides dirt and normal wear better than smooth finishes and provides excellent grip, which is why it is common on sloped driveways and pool decks.
Aggregate selection
The stone in the mix determines the final look — pea gravel, granite blends and darker river stone all read differently once exposed. We review samples before ordering.
Exposure and washing
A surface retarder holds the top paste open while the slab below sets. Timing the wash correctly is what produces even exposure instead of blotchy patches.
Borders and sealing
A smooth or broom finish border frames the aggregate field cleanly. Sealing deepens the colour and helps keep the surface easy to clean.
