Interlock pavers being installed over a compacted base

Interlock Services

Interlock Installation

The full installation process, step by step, so you know exactly what is happening under your pavers.

Two paver jobs can look identical on day one and be completely different three winters later. The difference is almost always in the work you cannot see.

This is the sequence we follow on interlock installations across the GTA.

Interlock pavers being installed over a compacted base

1. Layout and excavation

The area is marked, then excavated to a depth based on the use — deeper for driveways than for patios and walks — with the subgrade checked and compacted.

2. Base in lifts

Granular base is placed in lifts and compacted between lifts, holding the pitch that will carry water off the finished surface.

3. Screed and lay

A uniform bedding layer is screeded, then pavers are laid to pattern from a set string line so joints stay true across the field.

4. Cut, restrain, joint

Perimeter cuts are saw cut, edge restraint is installed and spiked, then the field is compacted and joints are filled with polymeric sand.

5. Cleanup

Excess sand is swept and blown off, excavated material is removed, and the site is left clean.
