Polymeric Sand
Joint sand that binds when activated, keeping paver joints full and resistant to washout and weed growth.
Joints are what make interlock work. When joint sand washes out, the units lose their ability to transfer load to each other and the field starts to move.
Polymeric sand contains binders that set when properly installed and watered in, holding joints in place far better than plain sand.
Installation matters more than the product
Joints must be filled to the correct depth, the surface must be completely dry and clean before watering, and the watering sequence has to follow the manufacturer's steps.
What it helps with
Full, bound joints reduce washout from rain and downspouts, discourage weed growth and limit ant activity in the joints.
Refreshing existing pavers
On existing hardscaping we clean out the old joint material to the required depth before installing new sand. Topping up over old sand does not work.
