Concrete garage pad being placed and screeded

Concrete Services

Garage Pads, Floors and Aprons

Vehicle-rated slabs with reinforcement, proper thickness and grading that keeps water heading out the door.

Garage slabs take point loads from vehicle tires, jack stands and stored equipment, so thickness and reinforcement matter more than on a walkway.

We also look closely at the apron — the transition between the garage floor and the driveway is where most water and settlement problems start.

Slab thickness and reinforcement

Garage slabs are built heavier than typical walkway slabs, with mesh or rebar where the design calls for it, on a well compacted granular base.

Grade to the door

The floor is pitched slightly toward the overhead door so melting snow off vehicles runs out instead of pooling at the back wall.

Apron and threshold

The apron is formed to meet the garage threshold cleanly and to tie into the driveway elevation without creating a lip.
